For All the People Trying To Make Sense of this Loss

Growing up on Long Island in the '70's all of my family had POW/MIA bracelets.  We looked for the names of the soldiers on our wrists to come home every week.  One soldier did - only one out of our 7 member family that all wore these bracelets.

When I was watching the Concert from Madison Square Garden, I saw the blue bracelets on the actors and singers wrists, and I knew immediately what they were.  I knew that I would find where they got them and buy them for my family, all New Yorkers, all deeply effected.

My husband is a New York State Trooper.  He spends most of his time in Manhattan now assisting the NYPD and NYFD in keeping the WTC area safe and secure.  I pray for him, for the lives that we lost, and for all the people trying to make sense of this loss in their own minds.  My family will wear these Memorial Bracelets and we will never take each other for granted again.  As long as we are breathing, there is hope.
