For Sgt. Rodney Griffin and PFC Michael C. Roell

I received my POW/MIA bracelet when I was about 12 or so in 1970. Years later, I was going to a community college near where I live and met a guy whose brother was killed in Vietnam. In the early 1990's, I was in DC and I was able to get him and his mother an etching each.  They didn't know that I was going to do that and they both were surprised and extremely grateful. Very recently, I became interested in whether my guy, Sgt. Rodney Griffin, 5-2-70, ever came home, and he hasn't. No remaines yet, either. I also stumbled upon your wesite and I order a KIA bracelet in the name of PFC Michael C. Roell, the brother of the guy I knew at college. I just wanted you to know that after all these years, I haven't forgotten about either one of them, and I don't think I ever will. Thanks for reading my message and for having this website. God bless, Dorinda

To Dorinda Mei:

Hi, this is Edward J. Roell. I am very touched that you remembered my beautiful brother, Michael C. Roell.

I still live in Hillsdale and have worked for Bergen Community College since September 1998. Now, I am working elsewhere, too.

I am glad that you are safe and well? My beautiful Mother left me on may 30th, 2009, at 3 PM, at Valley Hosptial, in Ridgewood, NJ. I hope you have your parents, still?

I ordered the KIA bracelet for my Uncle, LT CPL Paul J Mitchell a while back when I first found this site. My sister was named after him. Pauline Michelle Craig.

She was killed in 1985 at the age of 15.
My niece was born and named after BOTH of them! She is now going on her 16 th birthday, so I gave it to her.

We keep their memories alive by letting them know the legacy of the name.

Now I am ordering the KIA bracelet for myself. His legacy will never be forgotten! Thank you so much for doing what you do!

Hi, Ed,
Sorry to hear about your mother. She was a very special and beautiful woman. She will always be missed by anyone who ever met her. Yes, I still have my parents, but but dad has been sick with aplastic anemis for 2 1/2 years no. He's not making platelets like he should be, and he's been on kidney dialysis for a year now. He's holdin his own but not doing well. He gets dyalysis 3 x a week and blood and/or platelets 2-3 times a week, depending on his numbers. Mom has bad arthritis and uses a cane, but is otherwise okay.

About a year ago, I ordered Michael's bracelet with all his information on it-name, hometown, where and when killed, etc. Too bad I never got to meet him, but I think abot him and you everytime I ride through Hillsdale. I'm living in WCL now & working in a bank in Oradell. Life's okay. Anyway, glad to read yourcomment and I will always be think of you and you family and wishing you all the best always.

To the gentleman inquiring about Rodney Griffin. Recently his remains were found and identified in Vietnam. I am unsure if his remains have reached the US yet, but he is being sent here. There will be a memorial for him in Centralia, MO on April 25th.
