Why Wear a Memorial Bracelet

"Randall Kenneth (Randy) Campbell was a team mate and true friend of mine when we both served in Bravo Company/3rd Recon Bn (and deployed to VN in March 1965 from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii). Randy personified the characteristics of a USMC RECON Marine: "R for Running, E for exercise, C for can do, O for on the run, N for never quit." It's fair to say, Randy's style and accomplishments served as a model for the whole company and he was our first loss in April 1965. His loss was a significant wake-up call for what Vietnam action (whatever the media chose to call it, war, conflict, or combat action) truly meant . . . all who knew him, from that day on, knew what could lay ahead for each of us remaining.

My recollection is that Randy always said he was from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Incredibly, I made contact with a Montreal school chum of Randy's (Basil S. - now residing in British Columbia) who was also in contact with Randy's mother, still in Canada.

As soon as I knew that Randy had passed on that April, I swore, if I ever had a son, I would name him after Randy . . . and I kept my word. My first born son is today an active duty U.S. Marine officer with Randall as his middle name. I'm ordering a bracelet for this son, another for John C. (who was seriously wounded when Randy was killed); the third bracelet goes to another Canadian, Bas S. for his efforts in helping us (in CONUS) find Randy's mother and thus closing a more than a thirty-five year search for her. I proudly wear Randy's bracelet as an ever present connection to him and all he represents as a model of courage and commitment to selfless duty.

Please note also: Randy is buried in Elmira, NY and his name is on our Wall and on the Canadian VN veterans wall in Windsor, Ontario, CDN.

Thanks for helping us our with constructing our CARRY THE FALLEN 2011 Memorial Bracelets and dog-tags.

CARRY THE FALLEN 2011 is a program initiated by the Duluth Police Department (Duluth, Minnesota) in response to the inordinate number of police officer "line-of-duty" deaths thus far this year. The impetus for the program occurred when our profession experienced eleven (11) tragic police officer deaths in a 48 hour period, Nation-wide. Only one major news station (FOX) carried any significant coverage about the tragedy of our fallen compatriots so, our agency decided to do something to draw attention not only to these tragic deaths, but to the ultimate sacrifice many have made this year to protect our citizens.

For the remainder of 2011, numerous officers within our agency have dedicated to wearing either a stainless-steel bracelet or a dog-tag, created by your company, with the name of a fallen-hero officer, the name of their respective agency and the EOW date (end-of-watch) in remembrance and reverence of the service of these brave men and women to GOD and Country, to recognize their courage and ultimately, their sacrifice for those who need our protection.

Additionally, we send a letter to each of the officer's agencies to introduce our CARRY THE FALLEN program and offer our condolences and to let them know, WE EACH carry the loss of a fellow Law Enforcement Officer and will WILL REMEMBER these heroic individuals as we carry their names on our memorials throughout the year.

Just ordered a KIA Bracelet for SPC Steven Gutowski, KIA 28 SEPT 2011 in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, in Support of OEF. Steve was a brother in arms and grew up the next town over from me in Southern MA. Hadn't seen him in years as he went Active and I was Guard. Coincidentally we both ended up working out in the same province. I had a great time catching up with him in August; I was flying out for reassignment, he for leave, we ended up on a bird together. A month later as I am flying home for leave, I recognize a patch, and asked the kid if he knew Steve, how was he doing...and got the news. Ill never forget.

I just looked up a Memorial Bracelet of a friend I went to school with, CPT Mark Garner. I didn't know Mark especially well, but I knew him enough to know that he was a great person and a great soldier. I remember going to his funeral in our hometown in 2009, and I remember how upset it made me.

Like I said, I didn't know him that well but I knew him and went to the same school, we were even in JROTC together. I guess being a veteran myself and knowing the sacrifices so many have made firsthand and knowing so many others who served in Afghanistan just made it that much more intense for me. I hope his mother (who was also my high school biology teacher) and his wife don't mind me wearing a bracelet in his honor.

His mother and I met while stationed in Stuttgart West Germany. We met and had a small fling just before I left for Alabama. I only found out he was my son about 4 years ago. I got the chance to tell him about his family on my side, about me, my job ... you get the picture. Anyway, I got the chance to talk to him as he was trying to enter the Marine Corp.

He chose the Army for various reasons. He signs up, and gets chosen for "Sniper School". He graduates youngest in his class, and my understanding of it was that out of 70 something, he finished 12 or 14th. He goes to Afghanastan, gets in a "Stryker Unit. (I work at Anniston Army Depot. We built and rebuilt the tanks used over there). Well anyway, he goes on a sweep of some area there. He and his medic dismount the vehicle and a suicide bomber runs up and ignites his vest. My son and the son of another grieving family were killed instantly. I wish I could have met him, and talked to him face to face and not just over the phone. It would have been cool to have been able to hang out with him for just one day.

I'll will wear his Memorial Bracelet until the day I can meet him face to face.

I received my POW/MIA bracelet when I was about 12 or so in 1970. Years later, I was going to a community college near where I live and met a guy whose brother was killed in Vietnam. In the early 1990's, I was in DC and I was able to get him and his mother an etching each. They didn't know that I was going to do that and they both were surprised and extremely grateful. Very recently, I became interested in whether my guy, Sgt. Rodney Griffin, 5-2-70, ever came home, and he hasn't. No remaines yet, either. I also stumbled upon your wesite and I order a KIA bracelet in the name of PFC Michael C. Roell, the brother of the guy I knew at college. I was inspired by a woman who I saw on TV. She donned a bracelet for someone who was fighting in the Viet Nam war. They had written letters back and forth, and she promised that she would never take it off until she met him. Well, 40 years later she had the honor of putting the bracelet on his military jacket as they laid him to rest. I had a bracelet back then too, but I wasn’t as vigilant as she was, and I am ashamed of myself for it.

9/11 was such a tragedy, and I want to show support for those who lost their lives as well as support for the families. I don’t know if I will get any information about this person who is on my bracelet to let them know that I am wearing it for their family member.

SPC Jose A Torre was an extraordinary person. I had the honor of serving with him in Fort Leonardwood Missouri when he and I were first entering into the military in 2008. We were the same platoon, the same squad, and slept in neighboring barracks bays. Torre was an exemplary soldier, often setting a standard by which we all tried to meet. In training he was quick to absorb all details and many times was able to help other soldiers in understanding new subjects. When I was his squad leader, Torre was always there with fresh ideas and tactics, and was great at bringing moral up. I came to love Torre as a brother, as we all did. His death struck a deep chord in everyone who knew him and I will carry his memory close to me with this Memorial Bracelet.

I have a very strong love for our country and a deep respect for the people who have given us what we have today. I was drafted in late 1972, reported, but was rejected and was hurting that I could not do my part. When I hear the national anthem, it always brings a tear to my eyes, every time! I read about men clutching an old flag or even a small piece of it and it also brings tears to my eyes. I just recently got married and have found out that my wife lost her brother in nam, it is hard for her to even think of it. He was a navy medic and did not live long upon arriving there. I told her I would love to do the run to the wall and be part of this wonderful dedication. As of yet have not been able to do so, but when I got to your site I seen the bracelets etc., that one could get. I just placed an ordered with Memorial Bracelets for my best friend that I lost Sept 27 07. His name was Randy Johnson. I went into basic training and met him there. We did AIT together and almost got the same orders for the first three years of my enlistment. We got seperated when I changed my post. We had lost contact for a few years, until I was stationed at Ft Jackson. I was a garrison MP at the time. I got a call about a shop lifter. And when I pulled up to the P.X, I ran into him after to years of a phone call here and there and a letter from time to time. I lost touch during my tour in Afghanistan. I ETS'ed out of the Army in 05 after 16 years of service. I would time from time check causality reports, and on October 3rd I saw his name. After the shock wore off, I still have that whole in my heart for Frank and the other 5,000 or so of my other brothers and sisters lost in the past 10 years. After Frank passed, I tried to reenlist. Which was denied because of my PTSD diagnosis. Thanks for the oppertonity to share my story.

In 1973 when I was in 2nd grade, my Mom bought and gave me a cuff bracelet with Larry Spencer's name on it. I wore it everyday and hoped he'd be released and be okay. One day I lost the bracelet. All these years went by and I always remembered his name and wondered if he was released and felt bad about loosing the bracelet. I'm 43 years old now and I just kept thinking about him for some reason so I looked on the internet and not only found your website but I found out that he was released (many years later) and that he is still alive! I purchased the Memorial bracelet for my father -in-law. It is inscribed with his nephews name. We are planning to take him to the memorial in DC because I found out that he always wanted to go to see it. I thought just for the experience. While making arrangements I found out through another family member that it is specifically for his nephew. I thought while we are there it will be a nice rememberence and gift to present him with the bracelet after we locate Joe's name on the wall. If I could afford more, I would just pick out a random name and wear it with pride. When people asked me who it was, I would tell them a soldier I don't know, but it's one of the many people whom I wish I could express my gratitude to. When I was a baby, my mom and dad bought a bracelet at a fundraiser for a Soldier MIA during the Vietnam War. The original bracelet was lost however, I found out the Soldier's name and rebought one which I'll put on my Stetson.

I ordered 2 black Memorial Bracelets, one for my husband and one for me, both with the same name on them. We have not received them yet, they were just mailed out today, but here is why we ordered. The soldier on our bracelets is SSG Curtis Oakes. Curtis and my husband were both stationed in Korea together and then when they were sent back to the states they were both stationed at Ft. Campbell. I never in all the time that I knew Curt thought that I would be ordering a bracelet with his name on it. He was a dear friend to both my husband and me. He was one of 6 soldiers killed in Afghanistan on November 29, 2010 when an Afghanistan cop turned around and opened fire on them. Curtis was a great friend, father, and husband he treated people like he wanted to be treated. Curtis touched the lives of many people. I don't think that I ever met anyone that didn't like Curtis. I feel privileged to have been able to be part of his life, and to have him be part of mine. There is not a day that goes by that we don't think of him. And now we will be wearing our bracelets to keep his memory alive, and to keep him close to our hearts.

In Honor of My Great Uncle

I chose to order this bracelet in honor of my Great Uncle. He flew for the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. He was a Wellington Bomber Pilot with the 142 Squadron. It was thought that he was MIA all these years, but after some extensive research, I discovered that he was actually KIA on 9 Nov, 1942. His bomber was hit by flak over the Hamburg (Ohlsdorf) Cemetery, where he is now buried with his crew.

For Air Force Member MIA in 1965

I just received my Memorial Bracelet today. I chose the name of a member of the Air Force who was declared MIA in 1965 because for 10 years I lived in Salem, two towns over, and I have wonderful memories of living in the area. This young man never got to experience the beauty, fun and joy of living in this wonderful ocean side community. I felt that I owed him that much, to honor his memory.

My ex-husband is a Vietnam Veteran, who was Military Police in the Air Force, and suffers from PTSD. The Vietnam war, and the resulting PTSD, was the major cause of the dissolution of our marriage. I now belong to Soldier's Angels, and have "adopted" a soldier serving in Afghanistan. Ironically, he is in the National Guard, in the Military Police. I wanted to wear a bracelet to honor the soldiers who fought in Vietnam, as I always honored, and still do, my ex-husband, and to also honor those who are serving now. I will wear the bracelet as a reminder of all those who did not come home, in hopes that all those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan currently will all come home. I will pray for and honor them all "Until they all come home."

When will we learn the folly of war and that no one comes home the same..........

It has been a couple years, but it starts out as a long story from the newspaper. I would never have known her personally in a million years, but one of the reasons why I bought this Cuff Memorial Bracelet for Megan Mcclung was that the story when I first heard about it on the news, it got thrown at me like a ton of bricks.

Although I am not related to her, the report itself tears me up from the inside and I have not even got the chance to get over her death. I was shocked at least for about the last two months of 2006, and the next year after, 2007 I was very much poor broken hearted man. At first, she was a very very beautiful lady, had I met her in person, I believed I would have gone straight to heaven with her on that day. Secondly, she reminded me of my sister's age. They both had the same personality, same great looking lady, almost identical interests, etc….. That is why I have been very close to her up till this day, somehow managed to take care what is left of her soul.

Since than, I have somehow developed a intimate relationships even she is already gone and I would happily give up everything I have in possession to show that I always care for her very deeply. I also wearing now because to open up the sore wounds that I have inside me to other people as a reminder. I wish I was there to experience firsthand what happen to her on that day. Now looking back as I thought about it, I really felt that I should be out there protecting her more than all the boys who fought this war.

That is why this means a lot to me as a person which felt society has already forgot about females who's voice has already been shut out of the crowd and I am giving myself a chance to her voice.

My Scars run deeper than the messages that I am writing to most of you out there who are diligently reading it on a day-to-day basis. Megan Mcclung is truly a very very fragile rose. She in my view is one type of the girl that is very hard to find in this world, so I suggest that you stop taking her for granted and pretending that killing her off like a pig would not matter to you.

My father was stationed at Dover AFB in the early seventies and I was an ARMY brat! Anyway, when the first POW/MIA bracelets came out I had to have one. Total cost 2-3.00 dollars then. I was in the 6th grade. I went to the house they were selling them at and bought one. Halfway home I realized I had a Pfc. So I took it back and traded it for a Captain..James Mulligan. Long story short my DAD ...SFC William Brantley Edwards was very unhappy with me for taking my PFC back. He said that the PFC was probably going through more hell. Long story short I wore my bracelet till Capt. Mulligan came home then I mailed it to him. Never heard from him which was fine.

But my DAD, I owe him a PFC...I started praying for Bowe when I saw his story last summer...didn't know the bracelets still even existed so I am sooo very happy to get this do over!!!! Much wiser now..and Dad's smiling down from heaven I am sure, we lost him last August. Thanks for the opportunity!!!!

For Donald Lyle Elliott

Pfc. Donald Lyle Elliott grew up in the same neighborhood, only a few houses apart. I used to wander the neighborhood and about 5, I walked up the street and he was playing in his front yard. We began playing together and eventually went thru the Cranston, RI school system until he left in 1965.

There was an empty lot across the street from his house and we would play for hours in the tall grass. We did boy stuff like catching frogs and turtles in a nearby pond. We played cowboys and hid and seek. One day, we drew blood and became “blood brothers”. As kids so often did, we promised to be friends forever.

I never knew where Donnie went, but in late 1969, news went through the neighborhood that Donnie was KIA in Vietnam. I was stunned and after my father told me, I went to my room and cried. I denied that news for years but never forgot him. This past January, I was told he moved to Massachusetts, I researched the wall and found his name there.

I have been grieving since that time. I posted a memorial page on my web site for Donnie, and I am certain it may take an awful long time for the pain of his death to subside.

I ordered my braclet to honor my friend Donnie. I remember drawing blood from my right wrist when we became “blood brothers” and it is on that wrist that I wear his bracelet. I wear another to remember a classmate Kevin Carroll Hanley. Both of my friends were U.S. Marines and both were KIA only days after their 19^th birthdays.

I made a promise to both Donald and Kevin to wear these bracelets for the remainder of my life. I have stipulated in my will that upon my death, they remain on my arms as an eternal reminder of the love between three friends. Donnie and I promised to be friends forever, and I will fulfill that promise.

The bracelets are beautiful and it helps to remind me of the losses of our finest during that terrible war. To all those men and women who died in Vietnam, and for those who served and still carry the emotional scars, may our Almighty Creator watch over you. You have my deepest respect and gratitude.

Because Freedom is Never Free

While on active duty, the Freedom Flight with the POWs landed, I was able with the help of ground crew and medical staff, locate the exact bird the person whose name was on my bracelet was on. I was able to give him the bracelet with his name on it and explained exactly what the bracelet had meant to me and others who wore them. It was not long before everyone was wiping our eyes to remove the tears that had found their way to each of us that late afternoon.

Today, I still wear three bracelets, one for James Atlee Wheeler (17 April '65), another which list each name of those from Arizona on it and one for Michael Scott Spiker, (although his remains have been repatriated I wear it in honor of all who died in Desert Storm) I recently was able to give another one I wore of Capt. (Col now) earl Hopper Jr, who perished in '65, I was honored to know his father Col Earl Hopper Sr for several decades before his passing. I gave Earl jr's bracelet to his brothers who survived Jr after all these years and who was recently buried at the National Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

NEVER FORGET these brave men and women, ALWAYS REMEMBER WHY they are no with us today and that FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE, there is ALWAYS a price to be paid for it!

Back in the 70s, I had a POW/MIA bracelet. Somehow it got lost through the years. When I found the MemorialBracelets.com website, I was so excited. I now, thanks to you, wear a POW/MIA Bracelet with the name of the same man on it. I never forgot his name. When I first had the bracelet, he was on the MIA list. I have since learned he was killed. His name is Col. Burriss N. Begley, USAF, Dec. 3, 1966, North Vietnam. Somehow I feel very close to him after all these years.

My name is MAJOR David Admire. I'm an Occupational Therapist stationed at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at FT Campbell KY. I met CPL Hutchins in my clinic after he fell off a guard tower last year and broke his wrist. He was evacuated back to the States and had surgery to fix the fractured bone. He worked extremely hard in therapy, pushing himself, striving to get back to his unit and contribute to the mission. He never complained about the pain in rehab and was always positive and supported the efforts of other guys that he met in the OT clinic with encouraging words and a motivated - "leading from the front" example. When he was finally cleared by his orthopedic surgeon to redeploy he was happy to finally be able to return to his unit to do his duty. He could have easily gotten out of the deployment, but that wasn't Hutchins' style.

On November the 9th, 2010 I was in my office at the hospital at 0730, answering early morning emails and taking my first sips of coffee, when one of my NCO's came in and asked if I'd heard about Hutchins. When I told him that I hadn't, my SGT related to me how he'd heard on the radio that a CPL Andrew Hutchins had been killed by small arms fire in Afghanistan. I did a quick Google search of the mornings news and in fact found that the Andrew Hutchins that had worked so hard to rehabilitate his wrist had been shot and killed the day before in a fire fight.

I was stunned. All I could do was sit and stare at the headlines on the computer screen. Even before this horrible news, Hutchins was going to be one of those guys that I would never forget due to his amazing attitude and work ethic, not to mention his remarkable recovery from wrist surgery.

Later that day I made up my mind that I needed to honor the memory of Hutchins in some way. When one of my patients showed me a Memorial Bracelet that he had for another fallen hero, I knew instantly what I had to do. A few days later, I checked the website and found Hutchins' name and vowed to order the bracelet.

I received my bracelet with CPL Andrew Hutchins' name engraved on it yesterday and immediately slipped it onto my wrist. I have a feeling that it is going to be a part of me for a very long time.....probably for as long as his memory is a part of me.

For POW Returnee Colonel Arthur Ballard

This is perhaps the most important photograph I have ever made. When my father was serving in the Vietnam War in 1967, my mother obtained a POW bracelet which bore the name of Arthur Ballard. Earlier this year, mom and I found the bracelet in a box.

Thanks to Google, I was able to find the now-retired Colonel Ballard and let him know we had the bracelet and wished to return it to him. While Googling his name, I found your Memorial Bracelets website and it had a listing for Colonel Ballard. I got the POW returnee bracelet and then had the idea for this photo.

Now, some 43 years later, Colonel Ballard has had his bracelet returned to him (one of many returned to him throughout the years), and my mom has his returnee bracelet in its place. It's been an emotional experience for all of us. Corresponding with Col. Ballard has been an honor; he's an American hero and a very dear man. He was held captive for over six years of his life in North Vietnam.

My name is Jonathan Lugo, The reason I purchased these Memorial Bracelets is to honor and remember the lost of 3 great soldiers whom I had the honor to serve with, two of them during OEF 09-11 and one during OIF 07-09.

SGT Simpson was a great guy who would touch anyone with his can do attitude. He was a great soldier anyone could come to whenever one needed an advice or tips to get the mission acomplished. I met SGT Simpson back in 08 upon my arrival to the 20th Engineers Battalion. I used to be the S6 NCOIC and he used to work on S3. While deployed here in Afghanistan SGT Simpson served with the 20th Engineer Battalion under HHC and then was moved to the 584th MAC. He got sent home for some illness and he fough with everything he could and re-united with us out here on Fob Frontenac, Kandahar City. I still remember that very day he came back he mentioned to my room mate "I'm finally home". Before his last mission I had the oportunity to sit with him on the dinning facility to eat dinner and I remember we were making jokes and laughing. The day of his mission, he called me to fill his radios since I'm a communications specialist and he told me "Lugo, I want you to fill my radios, I trust you and I know you will ensure I'm taken care of". The night of the attack I was working on the Tactial Operations Center when we received a message notifying us of the attack. I automatically got flashbacks from Iraq and I couldnt believe it. I ran up and down across the FOB to coordinate a recovery accets that can go out there and recover the striked vehicle. When I returned to the toc, I was informed that we had a soldier KIA. When I looked up to the board and saw his name, I couldn't hold my tears.

SPC Morrison was a soldier who by just talking to you, your day will go smoother. He was a soldier that no matter what was the mission at hand, he never said no. I remember days when I used to work on his vehicle's radio he will sit outside the back door and just talk to me and ask me questions about Iraq and always telling me "Lugo, when are you coming out with us to missions". SPC Morrison was a great soldier and me being a former NCO, I knew he would had become one of the best NCO's I've met.

My other bracelet was in honor to PFC Hall. I met PFC Hall not too long after finishing with my advance individual training and getting attached to a unit I didn't knew to support them in their deployment to Iraq. Upon my arrival to the 479th Engineers, PFC Hall greeted me and started joking with me for "being a puertorican on a battalion full of gringos". While at Ft. Mc Coy Winsconsin, PFC Hall and I became close friends. He had the ability to make me laugh and make me forget about my fears of my first deployment and allowed me to cope with being a total stranger in a new unit. While in Baghdad, PFC Hall's ability to make everyone laugh and make random jokes even to superiors, allowed me to made it back home alive. There was times when I though that was the end for me but here he came with one of his jokes like "SGT Lugo, why the long face... ohh no SGT you gonna have to do some push ups for me if you going to be so serious" among others. Thanks to him I can say I'm where I am today. To my fallen soldiers from the Nov 5th shooting at Ft Hood, SPC Morrison, SGT Simpson and PFC Hall, you guys will always be in my mind and in my heart. I'm proud of being able to serve with you guys and I will never foget you guys. Thanks for the times we had together.

I ordered a Memorial Bracelet for a very specific person and a very specific reason. I know most people order them for relatives, but I did it for somebody even more important. There are very few people who would consider Matt important or a big part of their lives, but even if I don't deserve to, I want to be one of them. Matt was killed in action on August 31, 2010 at the age of 22. I had known him since he was 17 (I was 21 at the time) and we were both working together at Kmart. He very quickly became the person that you could talk to. Even after I got promoted to his boss, he was still somebody I could lean on and be myself around. He'd helped me move, spent time with me during the holidays when I was all alone, and been a major support system in my life. Matt and I had a strange relationship. We were close friends. Almost like brother and sister at times (when he was married, I was the only one he talked to about it). Later it turned out that he, at least, was interested in more. After I moved back to MN we rarely talked, but when we did it was baring our souls. He came to visit me for his 21st birthday. While he was up here, he declared his love for me to everybody at the local bar. Think he could have told me first? He witnessed (and was instrumental in) my baby sister (2 days younger than him) meeting her now husband. I regret that he never knew that they were married.

While he was up here, I spurned his advance because I didn't see him as mature enough. He even left without saying Goodbye to me. He gave me a call while he was in basic and proposed to me. Multiple times. Once he had gotten out, I really may have considered it. We lost touch in the year after he completed AIT. When I found out about his sacrifice, I was heartbroken and saddened. I regret not talking to him more, not being nicer, losing touch, and underrating him. Matthew George always wanted to be in the military on the front lines. He wanted to be somebody. To mean something. Well, even if he never knew it, he was somebody and he meant something to me. I pray that he knows how I feel and how proud I am of him. My punk made a difference!

For the Crew of Aircraft King 56

I ordered a Memorial Bracelet to Honor the crew of Aircraft King 56 which was an HC130- P Combat Rescue Aircraft. She was based out of Portland, Oregon with the 939th Rescue Wing. I had just returned 2 weeks prior to the 22 Nov 1996 from a 4 month TDY supporting operation Northern Watch, Turkey with this same aircraft. I would have been with these guys, but I had 3 small kids at the time and a wife that needed my attention after being gone for 4 months. The Crew was a highly experienced crew and I was close to many of them. On 22 Nov 1996 King 56 lost power due to mechanical malfunctions from improper maintenance procedures performed at their home base. Unfortunately, they were over 60 miles off the coast of Northern California at night. They tried to make land, but couldn't and crashes into the Pacific Ocean killing 10 with one survivor.

In April of 96 I trained with most of that crew in the USAF C-130 Advanced Tactical Training Course. That is a course where you fly as low and fast as you can to the ground and through the canyons of Arizona while being chases by F 16 fighters. I can't go into other details but we were never hit by the F 16's or ground fire. The Evaluator instructor was impressed how well we worked as a crew. We as a Crew worked as one which is hard to find. They were the best crew I have ever flown with, some I looked at as Brothers. The USAF did not Honor these great guys not to bring attention to the improper maintenance, but I think of them every day. I have missed them ever since! I Especially missed them on operational Rescue missions /Tactical missions and especially in Iraq and points east. I didn't know what happened to the bracelet and email until my daughter gave it to me for Christmas.

My flying days are over now due to medical injuries and medical mistakes from my Iraq tour in 2003. I remember the boys of King 56 and they were the best! They were Heroes and will always be remembered by me!

To honor the Aircraft itself, we rescuef 3 Canadians 200 miles off the Nova Scotia coast on our way back from Turkey. Their lobster boat caught fire before they could send out a distress call. We (different crew) just happened to be flying over and by the grace of God saw their smoke at 28,000 Ft and initiated the rescue.

For PFC Bowe Bergdahl

I was a Viet Nam era Army wife, so I know what it is like to have someone on foreign soil, putting their life down on the line to preserve the freedoms and rights we citizens of the U.S. have and often take for granted. During the Viet Nam war, I wore a MIA/POW bracelet for an Army Colonel for 7 years, but he was never found or recovered, so I put it away for safe keepings. Every year I search the Army List, but still his name has never appeared.

So one day on Facebook, I saw an Ad in the Right column about the Memorial Bracelets and clicked on it to see what it was all about. When I discovered they were similar to the heavy, thick silver MIA/POW bracelet I wore for so long, I knew I wanted to wear another one for another MIA or POW service person overseas. I discovered PFC Bowe Bergdahl is the ONLY American service person held as a POW in Afghanistan, so I knew he was the one I wanted to choose and wear my bracelet for him.

Before I even received my bracelet in the mail, I did a lot of research on Bowe and discovered there is not only a lot of controversy surrounding his capture and rumors that he surrendered over to the Taliban, there has been little to nothing by the US Army, or our government, or anyone to bring him safely home to his family, friends and the girl he wants to marry. There have been small rallies for him in his home state of Idaho and some Senators are trying to convince our government to do some prisoner trading for Bowe, but so far......nothing.

Bowe and I have some things in common, mainly our love for dance. So upon his safe return to Idaho and his family, I want to give him some time to readjust to civilian life (as I assume, if I were he, he will want to get out of the service after all of this......and I would not blame him one bit. Then I would love to fly to Idaho, meet his family, his girl and him (maybe even attend their wedding).......and give him the bracelet with his name on it that I have not had off my wrist since I received it in the mail.......except to take this picture of it.

I know it looks like I have a skinny (I do!!) black (I'm not) wrist, but actually I am white and that is my black stapler on my desk the bracelet is wrapped around......the only thing I could find at the time I took the picture of it.

I have posted this picture and messages about Bowe on my Facebook, my Twitter and my E-Mails, asking for prayers for his safe return and for his family and friends. When some of my Facebook friends saw the picture, they wrote to ask where they could get one also and I sent them straight to MemorialBracelets.com , hoping they also will order and wear them.

In Honor of SSGT Matt Maupin

My name is Malcolm and I have had the honour to wear several of your Memorial Bracelets in recent times. I bought one in honor of SSGT Matt Maupin whose Aunt attended a church my family was also attenting in Cincinnati. I was priveledged to give it personally to his mother on the day that his remains were returned to her.

Also, I had another bracelet custom made by your company with the names of the last two Australian servicemen listed as MIA from Vietnam. They were the crew members of a B57 Canberra bomber that was lost after a close support mission and never heard from again. After many years of pressuring the Australian and Vietnamese governments by several organizations search and recovery missions were commenced and these two airmen and the other Diggers who where unaccounted for were all finally located and their remains returned to their families in Australia. I had previously worn another bracelet with the names of these two men for a number of years until it finally wore out and broke. At which time a replacement was ordered from Memorial Bracelets. No sooner had this new one arrived than I learned that the remains of the two men named on it had been located and itentified, thus closing the long, sad and proud story of Australians' service in the Republic of Vietnam. At this time I felt very strongly that I should do something to honor these men and their sacrifice. Since returning the bracelet to their families was not feasible (both names were on it so who would receive it) I decided to send it to the current commanding officer of their squadron; No.2 Squadron, RAAF based at RAAF Williamtown about 100 miles north of Sydney. Some time after sending the bracelet I received a very kind letter from the Officer commanding No.2 Sqn in which he said that he was very appreciative of the gesture and that I could be assured that my bracelet would be placed in a position of honour on the squadron's officers' mess where it could be seen by all and would be appreciated by all as well.

I thought that you might want to know that your work does not only honor this country's service personnel but has had an impact on the other side of the Pacific as well. Keep up the fine work!

I wear my Memorial Bracelet for my best friend's son. His name is Sgt. Brandon E. Adams, & he gave his life fighting in Iraqi Freedom, on 19 Sept. 2004.

Brandon was such a great kid,with a great smile. I fondly remember bouncing him on my knee when he was a little boy. Brandon, & his family moved away from our home town, & I hadn't seen him in a few years, but I'll never forget the day his Dad called me, & told me of his death. It hit me hard ! He is on his second bracelet, due to it fading from wearing everyday. He is on his third tour overseas. First to Iraq, then to Afghanistan twice. He is presently overseas. My youngest son, a senior in high school, wears his Memorial Bracelet in honor of his brother overseas. "Keep my brother safe" We love the bracelets. Thank you for honoring the soldiers. Almost 7 years ago or so I ordered a 9/11 Memorial Bracelet from you guys for a firefighter I knew who passed away on Sept 11th 2001. I wore that bracelet ever day. It never came off of my wrist no matter what I was doing. I would go thru metal detectors at the airport and refuse to take it off and took the wanding treatment instead. I wore it thru the fire academy to remind me that some gave everything so I should give my all. It was like my own little cheerleader telling me to keep going when the academy got hard. The bracelet of Angel Juarbe Jr rode on my right hand until I lost an even closer friend in Iraq in 2007. I then moved Angels bracelet to my fire helmet where it remained until someone stole it from my helmet. But long story short, it was a great reminder as to never forget the ones we love and never forget what they gave up for us. Thank you to your company for such a great product. It held up to everything I put it thru at the fire house. I hope to never HAVE to order another bracelet, but if I do it will definitely be from you guys!

A Bracelet Worn 38 Years Ago and Again Today

When I was 15 years old, my sister was married to someone in the Air Force, and they were stationed on Lackland Base in San Antonio. During a visit there, she gave me a bracelet with the name of Robert Lilies on it, MIA. I wore it then, with a prayer for his return, and in honor of all people serving. I was so young and a product of the time not believing in the war. HOWEVER, as I said, I was young and had no real knowledge of what was going on. All I knew was that I would stand behind proudly our "boys" going thru hell, and even death, for us. I know I wore it for at least 2 or 3 years. When I finally took it off, I remember putting it with some cherished items, but somehow thru the years, it was lost.

A few weeks ago, my hubby and I were watching a PBS show re: the 1960's. With pictures of the Vietnam War on, I remembered my POW/MIA bracelet. It occurred to me that with internet, I could find his name somewhere listed as an MIA. I did find his name, but under KIA. As I read the info that was on his bracelet, it all came back to me. Additionally, I was able to read more info re: where he was from, Louisiana, and info re: his crash. I cried. Thirty eight years have passed. I am no longer a youth with all of life ahead of me, but I have enjoyed a very good life...much in part due to freedom I have known my entire life. I am blessed with 3 sons, one of which has served in The Air Guard for 10 years. A mother's heart is thankful he has not been called to go to Iraq...how could I not honestly be? However, he may be going in less than a year. He has been more than ready to go and do his part as his "brothers" have. If that does occur, God will get me thru it as He has been faithful to do thru the generations.

I am waiting for my new POW/MIA Bracelet from Memorial Bracelets in the mail excitedly. As 38 years ago, I will wear it in memory of Robert Lilies, a man I never met, but is so special in my heart. How I wish I could have contact with a family member! I believe he would be 70 years old today, had he lived. I will wear the bracelet in thanks to all military, who have served that I have lived free. I will wear the bracelet proudly in honor of my son, Seth Allen Mason. And lastly, I will wear it until it falls apart, as a constant reminder to pray for all of the above, and as a hope for a day of peace!

I ordered a Memorial Bracelet for my sister-in-law as a birthday present. My father-in-law was and Assistant Chief of a Fire Dept in the State of Ohio, he served for over 20 years and in that time was a great roll model for many in the Fire Service, as well as being Eagle Scout and a Troop Leader in the Boys Scout. He truly was a man to be respected.

His two children followed in his footsteps and went into the Fire Service respectfully as an EMT-Basic, and his son (my husband) as a Paramedic/Firefighter. His greatest joy was his children. He sadly and suddenly passed away in February of 2009. My father in law was my sister in laws hero, best friend, and there is never a day that goes by that she does not miss him being a part of her everyday life. I ordered this bracelet as a way for her to have him by her side at all times, as well as for the donation it would make to other families.

I wear my Memorial Bracelet for all my uncles that served during World War II. Only one didn't return after his P-47D had engines problems upon return to his base in Italy. He was a young man who had a promising future after the war, a similar statement about many who served. Researching his history I found a listing of so many other young men who went to war to only last a few weeks before dying. Tragic stories each of them. For me I have to remember those stories, I value my freedom greatly and today our nation is stuck in the muck of hoplessness and war. I believe it is our duty to remind others that there are success stories and the possiblities of what we can do as a nation is tremendous. I am a married man, with 2 adult children. One is handicapped, 31 years old, and the joy of my life. The other, 28, has twin children (grandbabies to me) one boy and one girl.
They were born Dec 26, 2008. I can only hope that they can somehow have a learned idea of the travesties of the "police action" of Vietnam. I only missed out on being part of it by 2 years, but from the time I was born, to the days of my senior year of high school, all I knew was "Vietnam war". It sucks that it is not recognized as a "war" per se, they are saying that this new war is the longest of modern history, but we all know "nam" was the longest of all!
I wore the Vietnam MIA bracelet with SSGT Steven W Heitman for most of my years of high school. I didn't have near the appreciation for all of the sacrifices that all of the men and women gave, some a little, and some all. SSGT Heitman gave ALL. I only wish I could of given more of myself, and my sole to the battle they all fought for too many years. I praise God that I didn't have to go to Vietnam, but, I praise all who went, lived, and died, for the freedom that we all have today!!
My original bracelet, I wore through high school, has long since been lost (this really sucks!!) if I only would have realized the true meaning, I would have guarded it with my life, but, as a young dumb teen, I only wore it because "everybody" did. I have lots more brain power now, (not always good), but I hold Steven in my heart, and will wear this new bracelet till the Lord calls me home!! The day I got my Memorial Bracelet I went into my office and cried when I opened it. I met Donnie through SSG Brooks. We were in Ba'Qubah, Iraq during the surge in 2007. Donnie was part of the PSD team for the BDE Cdr and I was on the PSD/LRT for the DCO. Casualties where very heavy that summer. We lost so many to IED's, Suicide bombers, and small arms fire. I went to more Hero flights than I want to remember. Out of all of the folks we lost Donnie was one I could put a voice to a face and face to the litter that was carried to the chopper. We had a few conversations over dinner in the DFAC and even though I didn't know him as well as I wish I could have, I swore after his death that I would never let the snipers bullet silence his memory. He went down about the time we were relieved and rotated stateside. While on Yankee Station, we were involved in numerous s.a.r pick ups. on November 7th, 1989, I picked a thin, red, aluminum band from a box of other red and silver bands. The name on it was CPO Michael J. Kustigan. He was a missing soldier from Viet Nam and would be my constant companion for over 20 years.

The simple band I picked out of the box was easy to take off, but it would be worn day and night, every day, rarely taken off. It would only be taken off for two operations and my wedding. I wore it so much that the red stain rubbed off unil it was silver and the letters had almost worn away. I wore it so much, that it broke.

The aluminum finally gave way after 20 years, 6 months and 6 days of constant wear. I couldn't bear to be without it. It had been a part of me for so long, I had to get a replacement. That's when I found your site, found his name, and got a much stronger, stainless steel one that I will hopefully wear for another 20+ years.

Andres H. Perez was a wonderful young man. We became friends our freshman year of high school back in 1997. We played football and had many classes together through out school. A great student and awesome lineman on the field and in the weight room, serious when needed and happy as hell the rest of the time! He was my "brown buddy" and I his "white buddy". Such a happy, smart, caring person that made an impact on many lives.

In 2001 right out of high school, Andres enlisted and began his journey with the Marines and went and fought the fight in OIF. He was unfortunately killed in Al Anbar Province, Iraq on November 14, 2004 due to a IED. He was laid to rest back in our home town of Santa Cruz, Ca where he is not forgotten, You can go there anytime of the year and find the flowers or flags left behind for one of our American heroes. His memory will never be erased from my memory and as I do my time in the Army I do it for him and this great nation.

I chose to purchase a Memorial Bracelet for a Marine that was killed in Afghanistan. I served in the Marines from 1993-1997. I was moved by a PBS special about the War on Terror and how it affected military members coming home. I already know about the affects, but to hear the stories of the two wars going on right now and the PTSd that a lot of military personnel are coming home with is staggering. I wish I could do more and help every family who has lost someone in the war going on right now. I will remember the Marine that I chose to memoralize on my arm and remember him every time someone asks me what my bracelet is.
