I bought his memorial bracelet in the summer of 1972 when I joined the US Navy and there was much hope that he (and many other POWs) were still alive. I still have the bracelet, but stopped wearing it when it broke in half from wearing it every day and never taking it off. I retired from the Navy after 22 years of service, and have never stopped thinking of LCDR Holmes.
