For Staff Sergeant Sandy Sanderlin

I always wore my POW/MIA bracelet and never took it off until 1975...Staff Sergeant Sandy Sanderlin...I still have my bracelet. I never heard anything and have always wondered and like others....felt very close to him. I went to the Viet Nam Wall in Washington and found a name very similar to his, I think he died. I tried to find family throughout the years and never did. I would love to give the bracelet to someone in his life to know he was not forgotten......to know that I always cared for him.......

I also have a bracelet for s/sgt. Sandy Sanderlin. I wore it until it finally broke. I still have it. I would like to know what happened to him. I do not see his name on POW/MIA lists; only a William D. Sanderlin.

So odd. I haven't thought of my bracelet for this man in years until this week. So thought I would google his name and found the 4 of you. So sorry to hear there is no information about him. Guess he remains a mystery still.

Found the POW bracelet of my youth today, 12/2/2011 - 42 years from the date on my bracelet for S/Sgt Sandy Sanderlin. I'm sad too that there is not more information on him or his family.

Found out that William Dale Sanderlin is one and the same as Sandy Sanderlin. Here's the last post on his site: On 23 January 1989, the Vietnamese government turned over human remains to US control. On 22 February 1990, the Department of Defense announced that the remains of CW2 Vanden Eykel, CW2 Dunlap, SP5 Shanley, and SP5 Sanderlin had been identified.

My goodness!! I, too, had SSgt Sandy Sanderlin POW bracelet in high school (1975-1979). My bracelet, too, broke but I've never forgotten that name!

I wore my Sandy Sanderlin bracelet, prayed for him regularly, and tried to contact his family, but they understandably did not reply. It was enough for me that they knew that their loved one was not forgotten. My bracelet broke also. But I wore it until then. 72 through 76. My husband and I were in a hotel room in the late 80s and "coincidentally" came upon a news report while flipping through the channels where they mentioned Sandy's name as one whose remains had been returned. I wish I knew more.

I also wore Sandy Sanderlin's bracelet, still have it as well. Years of thoughts, prayers, and now I have read the answer. Grateful for his bravery, and sacrifice.
May the Lord bless his family.

This is so odd. I as just thinking of the bracelet that I wore many years ago! It was the same as above Staff Seargent Sandy Sanderlin. I did i fact write to his wife many, many, many years ago. She was in Texas at that time. If memory serves me right, I had sent the letter through the address I obtained the bracelet from, and they forwarded it on. She did respond back to me!

I just moved, cleaned out some of my old things. I found my old POW bracelet for Sgt. Sandy Sanderlin as well. dated 12-2-69. It is in good shape. I would like to get it to the family if I could reach them and if they would want it.

I too had Sgt. Sandy Sanderlin POW bracelet....I have now read the comments above....but the POW bracelets were supposed to have been the exact enlisted name....and if his remains were found at such a later date then his name would have been on the Vietnam Memorial Wall....

I also had a Sandy Sanderlin braclet! I still have it! I often thought about him over the years! About 5 yrs ago I tried to find out some info...I forget exactly how I found what I found...can't remember how I started the search but from what I read Sandy was from Texas and he went down in an Helicopter accident!

I also have SSGT Sandy Sanderlin and I still have the bracelet. I did not have any luck looking for him. Interesting to be reading these comments. It caught my ear as I am watching Air Aces about the pilots fighting in WWII and they mentioned one of the crew was Sandy Sanderlin, I immediately went to the computer and found these postings. Sounds like he was supported by many which is good. The more prayers the better. Still would be nice to find some relatives so I can return the bracelet to them.
