For Someone Close to Me

I have always wanted one from the age of about 7, I am now 44, my father was in the Air Force and we used to go the Open House on the Base where ever we lived and I used to see them. So I found your site which is wonderful and I located a name that was my maiden name Hardy the MIA was also from CA where I am from. My Dad  is a Hardy from CA and he also did his time in Vietnam. So I felt that the name I chose was appropriate and I did research on Capt John K Hardy and read how he is MIA. My prayers are with him and all our service men.

I too have a John K Hardy bracelet. I always remembered seeing them in the stores when I was little and always wanted one. I found this one at a garage sale about 20+ years ago.

I wore a Captain John K Hardy MIA bracelet while in High School. I still have the bracelet although it broke in half from wear over the years. I was checking the web to see if he was ever found. Sad to see that Captain Hardy is still listed as MIA.

My Father was John k. Hardy and no, he never did return. I wore his bracelet when I was a little girl and wish I still had it. I am touched to see this blog that mentions his name...Megan Hardy

Megan... was wondering what year your father went missing? I have a John K. Hardy bracelet as well. Was he with the Air Force?

I also wore a Captain John Hardy braclet a very long time ago. I'll always remember his name. Megan, was your father a Captain? I typed this name in today, and this is what I've found. Sadly, mine was broke in half also and although I saved the pieces for many years, they are now lost forever, but his name will live on with me.

I am 54 years old and I had a John K. Hardy bracelet when I was a young girl. I lost it, but I too remember the name. I am so sorry he never returned.

Megan. I was going through my deceased Grandfathers' things, who also served in the military, and found a bracelet with your fathers' name on it. I would be more than happy to send it to you. I'm very sorry about his loss and very much appreciate his sacrifice for our country. It is a metal bracelet and an excellent shape. I feel it should be with his family. Wow. I also wore a Capt. John Hardy POW bracelet for many years until it broke. I'm 55 now. I picked up another bracelet at a sale recently and immediately remembered your dads name and decided to google him. I'm also sad to hear he didn't come home. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories of wearing his bracelet. I always thought there was only one bracelet for each POW/MIA. Kathi Welch in Kansas City.

Hello Megan,
I still have the bracelet that I wore in 1967 when I was a junior in high school. Mine says Capt. John Hardy, 10/12/67.
I am sorry for your loss. I hope that it gives you some comfort in knowing that many of us wore the bracelet with your father's name, were thinking of him, praying for his return and still have them. He has remained in my heart for 49 years.
God Bless,
Jan

I have a John k. Hardy Vietnam bracelet that I got when I was a young girl. I still have it although it's tarnished.
